I am Sagira, a rescue cat born in Shanghai and now living in the San Francisco Bay Area. My caretakers and I have a predilection for enjoying wine with fine food. That said, my definition of fine food includes Tiki Cat Sardines, so please take this with a grain of salt. My clueless caretakers have no idea that I sip their wine when they are not looking. Here are some of my musings on wine or other topics whilst in-between naps.

Pleasanton, California

After an afternoon of wine tasting, the clueless caretakers and I decided to spend a relaxing evening in downtown Pleasanton.

image

One of our favorite shops is Studio Seven Arts on Main Street.  The store has a unique collection of artwork by local and national artists.  Of course, I was drawn to the kitty drawings some very talented artists had drawn in crayon on the brown paper on the floor ;)

Afterwards, I made my caretakers take me to Murphy’s Paw to buy me some kitty treats and catnip toys :)

After some more window shopping, we needed more wine and headed for the relatively new wine bar Cellar Door.  We had a couple tasty small plates and glasses of wine.  We would recommend stopping by this wine bar if you are looking for a nice place to relax and enjoy some local wine.

We ended up having dinner at Nonni’s Bistro which came highly recommended.  We forgot to take photos but I can say that my silly vegetarian caretakers had no trouble finding something on their menu and seemed to really enjoy their meatless dishes.

Winter Wonderland Wine Tasting

The clueless caretakers and I visited four Livermore wineries for a “Winter Wonderland” event.  At 70 degrees though, it didn’t feel much like winter but we weren’t complaining!

image

Our first stop was Rodrigue Molyneaux which specializes in Italian-style wines.  image

This is one of our favorite Livermore wineries and we love relaxing on their grounds and being greeted by their resident dog :)

image

Our wines were paired with a delicious goat cheese appetizer - yum!

Definitely felt more like spring than winter :)

We then moved on to Cuda Ridge in their new location.

image

My personal favorite was their Cab Franc which we enjoyed sitting outside on their patio with an amazing view

image

Next up was beautiful Las Positas.  We really enjoyed their rosé which was perfect on such a warm “winter” day on their lovely grounds.

Finally, we went to Fenestra Winery for some dessert paired with their Dolce Franchesca and a tawny port - both very good.

We will definitely attend the Winter Wonderland event next year - no matter how winter-like the weather is :)

Wine Tasting in Livermore

The clueless caretakers and I started our day at one of our favorite spots in Livermore, Les Chenes.

We then stumbled upon a new Livermore winery, Caddis.  Their wines were quite good and we look forward to trying more in the future!

I even spotted a fellow kitty sitting in the window :)

Our final stop of the day was at Bent Creek where we enjoyed a generous tasting.  We just wish we had had more time to try them all ;)

And finally, home to relax…

Holidays in the Vineyards

One of our favorite events in Livermore is Holidays in the Vineyards.  This year, the clueless caretakers and I visited three wineries.  Our first stop was Longevity Wines.  We’ve been there a few times and it is a fun stop.  One draw is their cute wine doggie, PressTon, who is somewhat of a local celebrity.  He was dressed in a holiday sweater and making his rounds greeting the crowd.  The atmosphere was warm and festive with the holiday decor and the winemaker dressed as Santa.

Our next stop was at nearby Eckert Estate Winery.  They had a generous tasting of about 7 or 8 wines.  Our favorites were their Viognier and Pinot Noir (which we bought a bottle of).

Our wine was poured by the winemaker who had been up late the night before pressing raspberries for a delicious liqueur we tried after our tasting.

Our final stop was at Wente Vineyards.  Wente is one of the largest wineries in Livermore and they had a fabulous event as always.  We are members of their club and visit frequently.

The event was held in their barrel room and filled with plenty of vendors selling lots of interesting items.

We highly recommend the Holidays in the Vineyards event to anyone visiting Livermore.  We only wish we had more time to visit more participating wineries.

Trione Winery

The clueless caretakers and I visited Trione Winery in Geyserville with a large group not so long ago.

image

We did a tour of the grounds and then spent the afternoon sipping wine and playing bocce on their beautiful courts surrounded by vineyards - not a bad way to live!

image

I think my clueless caretakers sipped a little too much wine because their bocce performance was embarrassing and they were promptly eliminated from the tournament.

image

I would highly recommend spending a relaxing afternoon at Trione, playing some bocce, and enjoying their lovely wines.

We give this winery a 4 out of 5 paws.
